I worked as a pagnation designer and copy editor at the Chicago Tribune from October 2014 to August 2015. I planned, edited and designed Tribune Publishing’s six weekly suburban newspapers and print and digital editions. I worked in a variety of roles, handling news, business and features coverage in a daily deadline, multi-zone publication environment. My duties included content budgeting, managing story hierarchy and tone, headline and story summary writing, copy and photo editing, page design and staff mentoring.
However, my largest, solo project that I was assigned while there was transferring and matching Sun Times configurations of comic design formats into Tribune style formats. I created reference guides and templates that went through multiple review processes, and eventually had the product reviewed, accepted and purchased by the Tribune Content Agency.
